According to The Hollywood Reporter Vanguard Films has picked up screen rights to Stephen Emond's Emo Boy comic book published by Slave Labor Graphics. Kyle Newman is set to direct the film with Emond penning the screenplay. Emo Boy is the satirical saga of the most self-dramatizing teen in the history of the world with emotions so intense he has special ?emo? powers. But these poweres only seem to bring destruction and disaster, causing everyone to hate him even more than the already do. SLG has published two aptly titled graphic novel collections of Emond's Emo Boy--Vol. 1: Nobody Cares About Anything Anyway So Why Don?t We All Just Die and Vol.2: Walk Around With Your Head Down. According to The Reporter Vanguard is hoping to turn Emo Boy into a satirical film along the lines of Napoleon Dynamite, but with a more prominent musical component, which will satirize the hyper-sensitive ?emo? musical genre. |
