Casper Gets New Push For 60th Date: 6/12/2008 |
Classic Media is mounting a new push for Casper the Friendly Ghost, incorporating new programming, classics DVDs, and expanded licensing, all tying in with the 60th anniversary of Casper's creation next year. Casper will be getting a new look and style guide for the new push. Casper Scare School, a new CGI TV series, is in production for an 09 release. The show is pre-sold to more than 60 international territories, including Cartoon Network in the UK, Asia, and Latin America, Jetix in Europe, and TF1 in France. No U.S. venue for Casper Scare School has been announced to date. A new line of Casper DVDs with classic toons organized by subject will launch this Halloween from Classic and Genius Products with Casper: Trick-or-Treat Classic Collection Volume 1 and Casper & Wendy: Scare Up Some Fun Classic Collection Volume 2. And a number of licensees have been signed for the first time or renewed recently, including several in the apparel category. Dark Horse published a Casper collection as the first volume in its Harvey Classics Library series. Harvey Classics Library Vol. 1 Casper the Friendly Ghost is currently available in its second printing. |
