UDE looking for big things from new Yu-Gi-Oh! series Date: 4/17/2008 |
Strong demand for the most recent Yu-Gi-Oh! card game products and anticipation of the new "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's" animated series that is coming to the United States this fall has officials at Konami and Upper Deck Entertainment working more closely than ever to create a variety of new product offerings and strategic support of the brand. A sign of this joint creative force was a summit held recently in Japan involving Konami, Upper Deck, and other key companies. The "5D's" series made its debut earlier this month in Japan and provides a new storyline for the property. The main character is 18-year-old Yusei Fudo, and the main duelists ride special motorcycles with duel equipment. Among the early plans for UDE are products featuring exclusive content for the U.S. and European markets, as well as some of the popular elements from the Japanese version. The new products come on the heels of several sellouts, including Phantom Darkness and the first-ever hobby-exclusive for Yu-Gi-Oh!, titled "Gold Series." |
