First WoW World Champion crowned Date: 12/13/2007 |
Upper Deck Entertainment crowned the first-ever World of Warcraft TCG World Champion Dec. 2 in San Diego. Guillaume Matignon of France beat more than 400 of the world's best WoW TCG combatants to claim a grand prize of $100,000 - the biggest tournament payout in TCG history - and the World Champion title. Other top players received an additional $160,000 in cash prizes and all participants received a limited "Thunderfury" Extended Art card. Participants earned a spot at this tournament by competing in various tournaments and events throughout the world. Players who achieved a UDE Honor Ranking of Level 6 or higher or who achieved a limited UDE ration of 2700, or constructed rating of 2850, were also qualified to participate in the World Championship tournament. Upper Deck also brought the popular Darkmoon Faire to San Diego, complete with a variety of other tournaments and activities. |
