Upper Deck Will Open Corporate Store Next Year Date: 12/6/2007 |
Upper Deck, which announced plans earlier this year to open a retail storefront location in Southern California, confirmed over the weekend that the store will open during the first quarter of next year. The store will be located at the Bella Terra Center, a shopping mall in Huntington Beach, Calif. In addition to promoting its product offerings, Upper Deck officials say the store will also be used as a way to test consumer reaction to new product ideas and promotions before they're rolled out on a national level. The Upper Deck store will be a 2,000-square-foot retail facility that will feature both sports and entertainment products, with a specialized area for gaming tournaments and an area for in-store autograph signings. "The plan is to open a store where we can test new products, kid-friendly marketing initiatives, promotions and retail merchandising solutions," said Tim Muret, vice president of Upper Deck Authenticated. "It is our intention to continuously test ideas and programs and share those results with the hobby community. There is no better way to learn than being at street level." Muret said the company met with the owners of hobby stores in the area to discuss ways the stores and the company can work together. "We want to figure out ways in which we can work with local shops to attract new collectors and create excitement," Muret said. "We are passionate about creating and implementing innovative marketing concepts that will be mutually beneficial to everyone." |
