Family Honors Anime Fan Killed While Serving in Iraq Date: 10/22/2007 |
A tree planted in honor of an American soldier recently killed in Iraq has been decorated by family members with an anime character figure at the United States Army's Fort Stewart in Georgia. 19-year-old Private First Class Christian Neff was killed in action in Baghdad on September 19. Because Neff was an anime fan, his family hung one of his figures from the newly dedicated tree. Each of the 373 Eastern Redbud trees in the Warriors Walk memorial represents a soldier from Fort Stewart's Third Infantry Division who has been killed while serving in Iraq.
