Japan's Ghibli Museum Library to Add Russian Snow Queen Date: 9/24/2007 |
The newest release from Ghibli Museum Library, Studio Ghibli's label for classic world animation in Japan, will be the 1957 Soviet feature film Sneznnaya Koroleva (The Snow Queen, based on the Hans Christian Andersen story). This film had a significant influence on Hayao Miyazaki, who became inspired by the quality of its animation and its emotional impact, and decided to continue working as an animator after considering a career move into manga. It will be released to Japanese theaters on December 15 as a double bill with Lev Milchin's 20-minute adaptation of Andersen's The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Source: GhibliWorld.com |
