Komikworks Announces Grounded Angel
Date: 2/14/2005
Boston, MA - Komikwerks proudly announces the launch of Grounded Angel, a shojo (girls') manga webcomic. This twice-weekly serial can be found at www.komikwerks.com and AOL Keyword: KOMIKWERKS beginning Monday, February 14th - Valentine's Day. Further updates will arrive every Monday and Friday. "Manga is taking over the world, and we're at the forefront," said Steve Horton, scripter and co-creator. "Grounded Angel transcends many genres. It's romance, adventure, horror, gothic, fantasy - it's got something for everyone. And it's not just for girls. Like Ranma and Inu Yasha, Grounded Angel transcends gender. Plus, the art is outstanding." Grounded Angel stars an unwitting girl named Gloria, who finds out during a really bad day that she's an angel, the herald to the end of the world. Both good and evil have a vested interest in keeping her angelhood from revealing itself. Gloria soon finds herself on the run from supernatural forces, wielding a power she doesn't understand.
"We're very excited about Grounded Angel," states Komikwerks co-founder Patrick Coyle. "Steve Horton and his creative team have developed a really great comic, I think all our readers - our long-time readers and our new ones through our partnership with AOL RED - are really going to enjoy it. This is a fantastic addition to the Komikwerks ever-growing library of online comics!" Joining Horton on Grounded Angel is Indonesian manga artist Vivi Erlanita. Vivi is fresh off another project, Divine Intervention, found at monkeyspit.com. Her style has been compared to an early Rumiko Takahashi. Vivi is pencilling, inking, and manga-shading the title. Providing manga-style letters is indie comics veteran letterer Johnny Lowe (10th Muse, Bryceworld). Check out the comic online February 14: http://www.komikwerks.com
