Anime / Manga Based Films Dominate Japanese Boxoffice Date: 3/13/2007 |
Courtesy Box Office Mojo's figures for the March 10-11 weekend, Toho's release of Doraemon: Nobita's Great Adventure Into the Underworld debuted on 330 screens to take top position, drawing $4,725,406. Based on the Atsuko Asano manga and novel, Battery arrived in second, amassing $1,564,556 on 282 screens. One Piece 8: Episode of Alabaster: Desert Princess and the Pirates came in fourth, drawing $2,945,226 to date. The Osamu Tezuka-manga based Dororo came in 8th, making $27,082,688 since its initial January release and finally, the Moyocco Anno-based Sakuran ranked 9th, it's drawn $3,045,236 over 3 weeks its been in the cinema. |
