Anime Coke TV Ad Coming Date: 2/10/2005 |
The New York Times reports: A week from Sunday, it will be Fox's turn again as it broadcasts the Daytona 500, which opens the Nascar Nextel Cup series for 2005. Advertisers that are paying an estimated average of $375,000 for each 30-second spot include Anheuser-Busch, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Exxon Mobil, Gillette, Office Depot, UPS and Visa, as well as Nextel. "This is a very passionate event," said Steven Schiller, group director for the Coke brand team at Coca-Cola North America in Atlanta, a division of the Coca-Cola Company, "and consumer passion points are an opportunity for brand Coke to connect in a much more impactful way." During the broadcast, Coca-Cola will introduce an unusual 60-second spot filmed in the style of Japanese anime. The spot, by Berlin Cameron/Red Cell in New York, part of the Red Cell unit of the WPP Group, features four Nascar drivers and is titled "Fantastic Four"; it will appear later in more than 10,000 movie theaters. |
