Makoto-chan Japanese DVD Release Date: 1/28/2007 |
The 85 minute 1980 anime film Makoto-chan will be released to R2 DVD for the first time in Japan on January March 24th for 3,990 Yen. The story is adapted from Kazuo Umezu's classic gag manga of the same name. The comic ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday between 1976 and 1981. Umezu returned in 1988 and 89 to pen 2 additional volumes. The director of the film is Tsutomu Shibayama of Doraemon fame. Tomoko Konparu wrote the screenplay. Among the voice credits are Junji Chiba, Kazuko Sugiyama (Makoto) mangaka Kazuo Umezu himself and "The 2 Beats" Beat Kiyoshi and Kitano Beat Takeshi. This was the slapstick comedians' debut film role. Distributed by TMS and TOHO. DVD production and sales by SPO. |
