Top Selling Anime Releases of 2006 Date: 6/14/2006 |

Final Fantasy and Howl's Moving Castle Top Performers of 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to Nielson Vidscan, the top ten selling anime to date of 2006 (with 2006 release dates) are: 1- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children 2- Howl's Moving Castle 3- Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn 4- Karas - the Prophecy 5- Samurai Champloo V.7 6- Whisper of the Heart 7- Fullmetal Alchemist V.7 8- Fullmetal Alchemist V.8 9- Naruto V.1 10- Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig V.3 According to the Vidscan numbers, Advent Children has sold almost twice as many copies as Howl's Moving Castle, which has sold more than three times as many copies as Fusion Reborn. The DVDs in 5th through 8th position are very close in terms of total sales. Due to the fact that the Vidscan numbers only account for a limited portion of the market, these releases may not rank in the same order in a more complete market sample. Despite being released prior to 2006, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke continue to sell strongly and would rank fifth and eigth on the chart based on their 2006 sales alone. |
