Bandai Gears Up OP
'Naruto CCG' Fueling Growth in Play Date: 6/8/2006 |
Citing the response to the Naruto CCG, Bandai Collectible Games is gearing up its organized play operation to handle larger numbers of both players and volunteer event organizers. The changes include an outsourced provider for OP Website support, and a revised program for event organizers, which Bandai calls "Meijin." The initial shipments of the first Naruto CCG release sold out quickly in the hobby, and product had to be diverted from other channels to fill demand (see "Bandai Responds to Naruto CCG Sell-Out"). Bandai also reports that orders for Naruto CCG Series #2: Coils of the Snake are higher than expected, and that organized play participation has "skyrocketed." Worlds Apart Productions, which provides Web support for Anachronism from TriKing Games (see "TriKing Revamps OP"), will create a revamped organized play Website for tournament registration and reporting. The new "progressive" program for Meijin will include a "generous reward system" and a tiered system of advancement to Judges for Naruto Premier events. The new program for organizers will be managed by Kim Logie, also longtime volunteer and volunteer coordinator for Decipher. |
