The Superhero Book Includes Manga Heroes Date: 11/29/2004 |
Visible Ink Press and author Gina Misiroglu recently announced the publication of The Superhero Book: The Encyclopedia of Comic-Book Icons and Hollywood Heroes (edited by Gina Misiroglu, with David A. Roach, for Visible Ink Press, November 2004). Misiroglu informed us that, in addition to the entries of North American icons such as Batman, Spider-man and Wonder Woman, the book will also include several entries on manga and manga heroes. There is one general 2,500-word entry on heroes in anime and manga, titled 'Anime and Manga.' The entry "discusses developments in the mediums and the similarities/differences between Japanese and American characters," explained Misiroglu. In addition, there are the following individual entries for anime and manga properties: Astro Boy, Battle of the Planets, Card Captor Sakura, Casshan: Robot Hunter, Cobra, Cutey Honey, Dragon Ball (covers the entire universe), Hurricane Polymar, Madara, Mai the Psychic Girl, Project A-ko, Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon, Speed Racer, Tekkaman, Ultraman.
