Canadian National Police Services Removes Misleading Anime Fact Sheet Date: 2/21/2006 |
RCMP to Review the Article, Apologises for Any Confusion -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Canadian National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, a Canadian Government initiative associated with Canada's national police force, the RCMP, has removed the misleading fact sheet referred to on Anime News Network last week. The article in question, which defined anime as "adult oriented material that contains scenes depicting sexual acts," was removed from the website by February 17. On February 17, the webmaster of the RCMP's website contacted ANN to inform us that "The Fact Sheet has been removed temporarily from the NCECC website so we can review to ensure proper use of the terminology. Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion." ANN's editor, as well as several readers, wrote the RCMP to inform them of the article's inaccuracies. Some of the readers posted copies of their e-mails in ANN's forum. |
