Canadian Arrested in Japan for Pirating Gundam Seed DVDs Date: 10/27/2004 |
Impress corporations reports that a 24-year-old Canadian citizen living in Japan has been arrested for DVD piracy. The individual was selling, via Yahoo auctions, chinese manufactured bootlegs of Gundam Seed DVDs. According to the report he sold pirated DVDs to some 300 people, between January 2003 and his arrest on October 25th, earning a profit of 2 million yen (US$18,750). The Computer Software Copyright Association (ACCS) sent the man a letter in January 2003, however when he did not cease his activities they turned their information over to the Gunma prefecture police. |
