Richard Schiff in 'Man of Steel' Will Play Prof. Emil Hamilton Date: 1/12/2012 |

Richard Schiff, who is probably best known for his Emmy Award-winning performance as political advisor Toby Ziegler on The West Wing, is joining the cast of Zack Snyder?s Man of Steel. Snyder?s Man of Steel debuts on June 14th, 2013. The elaborate film has been in production for some time (see ?Supes (with Apron On) in the Kitchen?). According to Variety, Schiff will play a character known as ?Dr. Hamilton,? a likely reference to the recurring Superman character Professor Emil Hamilton, a scientist who was driven mad when Lex Luthor bought up (and took credit for) the Professor?s inventions. Ostensibly cured of his mental disease Hamilton became Superman?s science advisor, though he eventually succumbed to mental problems once again and became the villain known as Ruin. There is no word yet on which side of his personality he will display, or how big a role he will play in Man of Steel. But once again it is clear that superhero movies are able to attract some of the best acting talent available, something that did not happen in the 1990s for example. |
