Viz Jumps Ahead 12 'Bleach' Volumes For Shonen Jump Digital Warp Date: 11/18/2011 |

Viz is jumping ahead 12 volumes in the Bleach storyline, bringing Bleach Volumes 49-51 to Vizmanga.com and on the Viz Manga app over the next month as part of its Shonen Jump Digital Warp, a program to accelerate the release of manga series here in North America in preparation for the launch of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha on January 30th (see ?Viz Launching ?Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha??). Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha will be released nearly simultaneously with Shonen Jump in Japan, reducing to near zero the lag time between when manga content is released in Japan and when it is released in the U.S. Bleach Vol. 49, available digitally now, begins the latest story arc in Japan. Viz will release Vol. 50 on November 21st and Vol. 51 on November 28th. The next volume in print in the U.S. is Bleach Vol. 37, which will street in December. No word from Viz on the pace that it will release the print volumes to catch up with the digital format, although Bleach Vol. 38 is due out in February, an unusually short two month gap between volumes. Viz recently went to digital first on Naruto (see ?Viz Goes Digital First on ?Naruto??, but it had previously nearly caught up to Japan on the print versions in North America so does not have the long gap between print and digital versions, as it does with Bleach. |
