DC?s New Digs In Beautiful Downtown Burbank Date: 6/24/2011 |
DC Comics will move into its new West Coast headquarters, a 14-story office tower known as the Pointe (love the extra ?e?) at 2900 W. Alameda Ave., which is less than a mile from the Warner Bros. Studio. DC staffers are expected to move into their new digs in mid-August. The portion of the DC Comics staff that moved west as part of the company?s restructuring will relocate from their nearby temporary office space at 3400 Riverside Drive to the new location where they will be joined by additional personnel from New York as well as those who had relocated temporarily to San Diego. DC will occupy the building's entire second floor. The move to the West Coast for all of DC Comics except its actual Publishing Division, which will remain at 1700 Broadway in New York, was announced last September (see ?DC Becoming More Bi-Coastal?) just a year after Warners, which has owned DC Comics since 1969, restructured the nation?s oldest comic book publisher in order to better compete with Marvel Entertainment, which had become the #1 player in the fast growing superhero movie business (see ?Warners Forms DC Entertainment?). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 10-year leasing of 35,000 square feet at the Pointe to house the DC staffers is valued at roughly $16 million. DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson will have offices at the Pointe, but will also retain her office on the Warners lot. |
