Initial D Opens Big in Asia
In Five Markets Date: 6/30/2005 |

The new live action Initial D film (see "Initial D Film Deal") opened in five Asian markets last weekend and topped new releases in three of them, according to Variety. The three markets where it won the weekend were Hong Kong, where it played on 99 screens; China, on 450 screens; and Malaysia. It was the top opening of the year in all three markets. Initial D was also the top Chinese-language film in Taiwan and Singapore. The Japanese opening is scheduled for September; no word yet on a U.S. release date. |
