Marvel Anime on G4 'Iron Man' Debuts in Spring 2011 Date: 7/26/2010 |
At the San Diego Comic-Con Marvel?s new Head of TV Jeph Loeb announced that the G4 gaming network (whose Attack of the Show provides the best televised coverage of Comic-Con) would be broadcasting all four of the 12-episode Marvel Anime series written by Warren Ellis and produced by the noted anime studio Madhouse. The first Marvel Anime series, Iron Man will debut in the spring of 2011. The first episode in the series was shown at Comic-Con in Japanese with English subtitles. It is not exactly clear at this point whether it will be broadcast in the same way or with an English dub. In the Madhouse Iron Man series Tony Stark travels to Japan to unveil a new ARC reactor project and peace initiative. He announces his retirement and the mass production of a new Iron Man Dio armor, but is soon forced back into action as problems arise with the Dio armor. The other 12-episode Marvel Anime series (also written by Ellis) are Wolverine, Blade, and X-Men. In creating the series Madhouse is adapting the look of the characters to fit the anime style, and the stories, including the characters? backstories and histories, will be adapted to incorporate Japanese culture and history (see ?Wolverine, Iron Man Anime?). The Iron Man anime is slated to debut on Japanese television on October 1st. |
