NTV Reaps Big From Film Moves Date: 6/1/2005 |
NTV has recently seen large rewards from investments into others' films and indeed it's own released under the label NOMO (NTV Original Movie). On May 19 figures cameout showing sales totalling 357.6 billion Yen (Up 8.9% over first term), and a current profit 35.5 billion Yen (3.3% decrease). Operating profit saw a 110.0% increase and this can be attributed mainly to the success of Howl's Moving Castle which NTV holds significant shares. Under NOMO the Toho distributed love story Tokyo Tower made about 13.5 million US dollars in it's first six weeks in theaters. Likewise the manga based Makoto has also seen success under Shochiku distribution. International sales manager Masako Arisaka mentions NTV will move from strictly TV and Animation and expand more into motion pictures. |
