3-D 'Gon' Anime Feature Currently in Production Date: 6/11/2010 |
The Korean company Daewon Media is producing a 3-D animated feature based on Masashi Tanaka?s Gon manga. The feature film is currently in production and is expected to be finished by the end of 2011. Daewon recently signed a distribution deal with Rainbow Media, which will distribute the film in Europe. The brilliantly drawn, wordless Gon manga, which features an irascible 3-foot high dinosaur, won the Excellence Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival in 1998. Gon is published in Japan by Kodansha. DC?s Paradox Press imprint first published Gon in the U.S. in the 1990s, and DC?s CMX also published several volumes of Gon in recent years. In 2008 it was reported that Daewon Media was creating a Gon anime TV series (see ?Gon TV Anime?), but that project has evidently morphed into a 3-D anime feature. |
