It was just another XXX racket busted by the police till the content of the 1,200 CDs seized was revealed: sex starring cartoon characters. For the cops, this is a first-of-its-kind seizure. "We've never come across such CDs before. Three people obtained master copies of pornographic prints and created copies from them. We are trying to ascertain how extensive the network is," informs additional DCP, Central district, Alok Kumar. * End of innocence Police officials reveal that the clientele for these CDs includes buyers as young as 12 years. "While all kinds of people buy toon porn, teens form the core group of buyers not only in Delhi but worldwide. Cartoon porn movies and video games have been in the Delhi market for some time now and find buyers even though toon porn CDs are more expensive than the regular stuff," reveals a shopkeeper at Palika Bazaar. Following the recent seizure by the cops, these CDs are only being offered to 'regular' customers. "Despite the cops being on the lookout for these CDs, we still manage to sell them because demand is high," says another shopkeeper. "The hentai 'pervert' video games of Japanese origin are in the news worldwide. Young men in particular are drawn to these games because of their virtual-sex-slave appeal -- gamers can make digital women do anything, and they can never lose. Teen boys can become 'addicted' to these games to the point that it affects development of their social skills. For instance, a teen addicted to cartoon porn might want to spend a majority of his time playing these games rather than meeting other people," says psychiatrist Amit Raheja. Cartoon Pornucopia Manga, hentai and anime are the three forms of the XXX Japanese cartoon movies seized by the cops. The trend of animation porn started with Japanese cartoonist Go Nagai creating anime for adults through series featuring 'Cutey Honey', a well-endowed female lead who could change her appearance to play any number of seductive roles, and 'Kekko Kamen', a satire on superhero animations featuring a naked superheroine. This trend has come a long way since then -- the pornographic CDs seized in Delhi portray homosexuality, tentacle rape, bestiality, S&M, and incest in graphic detail and are being sold with titillating titles like Cream Lemon, My Fair Masseuse, Co-Ed Affairs and Can Can Bunny Extra for anything between Rs 100-150. |
