Korean Manhwa Closes In On Japanese Manga In European Market Date: 5/5/2005 |
According to Germany's Mainpost newspaper, The Leipzig Book Fair rated Manhwa's growth pace high, saying that Manga's competitor is Korea's Manhwa, not the U.S. any more. According to the KOCCA quoted in the piece, "The Agency will boost Europe market share between Manga and Manhwa from current 8 to 2 up to 7 to 3 within 5 years", adding Korea will assume a host country role in the forthcoming Frankfurt Book Fair. Right now, a total of 20 Korean Manhwas such as Lee Myung-jin's 'Ragnarok' are gaining popularity in Germany market. |
