DiCaprio in 'Button Man' Based on John Wagner's 2000 AD Comic Date: 3/31/2009 |
According to Production Weekly Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to star in a screen adaptation of John Wagner?s Button Man. Originally published in 2000 AD, Wagner?s diabolical update of ?The Most Dangerous Game??hired killers are part of an elaborate gambling scheme based on their ability to kill each other?has been collected in four graphic novels, which remain among the most popular 2000 AD collections outside of Judge Dredd (also created by John Wagner). Back in 1994 Kitchen Sink published the first American edition of the initial volume in the series, The Killing Game, which is the basis for the movie adaptation. Wagner?s suspenseful tour de force was originally optioned for the movies back in 2005 (see ?Duo Pushes Button Man?). In 2006 Dreamworks acquired the rights (see ?Button Man Gets Movie Deal?). So far there is no definitive date set for production to begin on Button Man. DiCaprio is currently attached to Christopher Nolan?s sci-fi ?mental? thriller Inception, which Nolan will shoot before Batman 3. Leo has also been mentioned (along with Brad Pitt) for the role of Steve Rogers in Marvel Studio?s The First Avenger: Captain America. |
